PADDLE BOARD USER GUIDE

SETUP AND INFLATION

STEP 1: Get started by registering your board with the manufacturer by visiting registermyboard.com

IMPORTANT: Your board comes with a clear dry pouch to store valuables while on the water. The manufacturer will not be held liable for valuables that are lost or damaged while using this item for any reason whatsoever.

STEP 2: Open the box and unroll the board.

STEP 3: This board has two separate pieces, the floor-board and the pontoons. Inflate the floorboard BEFORE the pontoons.

To inflate, unscrew the valve cap from the valves which will be on the back of the floorboard and the sides of the SUPYAK. These valves have two positions. The valve must be in inflation position to inflate, meaning that air can only move through the valve in one direction, into the board.

When the valve stem is in inflation position, the valve stem will stick up a little higher than in the deflate / two-way position. Push down on the valve stem once to switch between positions.

STEP 4: Connect the hose to the pump, making sure the connection is secure.

STEP 5: Plug the power adaptor into a 12-volt outlet. (Depending on your make / model, the car may have to be running for the outlet to work)

STEP 6: Press the unit toggle button (PSI / BAR) until you reach your desired unit.

STEP 7: Insert the hose into the valve of the floor-board. Make sure the valve is in inflation position before inserting the hose.

STEP 8: Preset the pressure before inflating: Press the pressure up / down buttons (+/ -) until you get to the target PSI / BAR. Note that while the floor-board should be at 8 PSI / .6 BAR, each pontoon should only be inflated to a MAXIMUM of 4 PSI / 0.28 BAR.

STEP 9: Start the inflation process by pressing the power button. The pump will now start to operate. Make sure the pump is in an open space and not in a tight area with little air flow.

STEP 10: Once the floor-board has reached the preset pressure, the pump will automatically stop. Remove the hose from the board and place the valve cap on the board’s valve.

STEP 11: Repeat steps 7 – 10 with each pontoon. Note that while the floor-board should be at 8 PSI / .6 BAR, each pontoon should only be inflated to a MAXIMUM of 4 PSI / 0.28 BAR.

STEP 12: Unplug the pump from the outlet and remove the hose from the pump and store in the bag.

STEP 13: Attach the fin. Take the base of the fin and place it at the front of the track with the pointed part of the fin facing the back of the board. Slide the fin back and place the fin lock in the track.

DEFLATION AND PACKING

IMPORTANT: For proper maintenance, empty all water from your Kayak before storing. If the Kayak is not dry, separate the pontoons and floorboard before rolling it to prevent water accumulation. Water trapped between the pontoons and the floorboard during long-term storage can lead to corrosion, mold, and other issues that can compromise the performance and lifespan of the Kayak.

STEP 1: Rinse off any sand or debris before storing the board, paddle, and accessories in the included storage backpack. Remove the seat(s) from the board.

STEP 2: Unscrew the valve caps and push the center of the valve stem to switch the valve back to two-way air flow. Air will now come out of the board rapidly.

STEP 3: Deflate the floor-board. Before deflating the pontoons, dump out any water that may have accumulated. Then continue with deflating the pontoons.

STEP 4: With the valve in the deflation position, roll the board from nose to tail, forcing the air out of the board. Be sure to roll the board with the traction pad on the inside. Replace the valve caps once the rolling is complete and turn clockwise to tighten.

STEP 5: Disassemble the paddle. Hold the middle shaft of the paddle with one hand and gently pull up on one of the adjustment clips with the other about 0.64 cm (0.25 in). Remove the blade and T-grip from the shaft. Repeat with the other blade and T-grip.

STEP 6: Store your paddle next to your board in the bag or roll the board around the 4 paddle pieces to protect your paddle during transport.

FAQ – INFLATION / DEFLATION

Q: How does the valve work?

A: The valve has two positions. The first is two-way which is for deflation only. The second is one-way which is for inflation only. To switch between positions, push the center of the valve stem down once. To switch again, push the center of the valve stem once more.

Q: I just pumped my board and removed the hose, but now air is flowing out of my board. What do I do?

A: Push the center of the valve stem once to switch the valve from two-way to one-way position. This makes it so that the air goes in and stays in. Once the valve is in the one way position, you will need to repeat pumping to achieve target pressure.

Q: What are those molded pieces opposite the inflation valves on each pontoon?

A: Those are pressure release valves. When the air pressure in a pontoon gets too high, the valve will automatically activate, bringing the pressure back to safe level. Do not obstruct the release valves.

FAQ – PUMP

Q: When I pump up the board the hose leaks. What should I do?

A: Check the threaded connection of the pump hose where the hose connects to the pump handle. Make sure the connection is screwed on properly and is not cross threaded. Inspect for any holes in the pump hose. If holes or cracks are found, contact our customer service.

Q: My pump has stopped working. What should I do?

A: Make sure your pump is properly plugged in to the power source and that it is still receiving power. If you continue to experience problems, reach out to our customer service team: 1-866-696-9257 / customerservice@surf9.com

FAQ – BOARD / ACCESSORIES

Q: What are the small straps on the sides of the SUPYAK?

A: These are for you to place your paddle when either carrying your board to the water for convenience or when need a secure place for your paddles when out on the water. Simply open the straps and wrap the paddle shaft tightly.

Q: I lost the fin. What should I do?

A: Purchase a new fin or contact customer service. (See page 11 for customer service information).

Q: How do the removable water bottle holders work?

A: The water bottle holders conveniently connect to the base of the board simply by placing them where is most comfortable for you.

FAQ – PADDLE

Q: How adjustable is the kayak paddle?

A: The length of the paddle in kayak mode can be adjusted by 12.7 cm (5 in) by moving the position of the paddle clip on the handle.

Q: What is the height range for the person(s) using the paddle as a SUP (single blade) paddle?

A: The SUP paddle can be adjusted for people between 1.45 m (4 ft 9 in) and 1.83 m (6 ft). This is specific to kayak paddles in “SUP mode.”

Note: the height range on paddles from other Eddie Bauer SUP models may be different.

Q: Do I need to take off the paddle clip in order to adjust the length?

A: When adjusting the paddle length, DO NOT completely remove the height adjustment clip from the paddle. Adjusting the height on the paddle on shore is always best. The clip needs only to be pulled up about 0.64 cm (0.25 in) to adjust. Completely removing the clip may cause damage to the clip and the paddle and can lead to the clip falling in the water and sinking.

Q: What should I do if the paddle clip comes off and how do I tell if it is broken?

A: If the paddle locking clip comes off, you can line up the holes with the prongs and reinsert. If one or both of the prongs are missing, then a replacement clip(s) will be needed. Contact our customer service team for assistance.

Q: I broke my paddle. What should I do?

A: Purchase a new paddle or contact customer service. (See page 11 for customer service information).

FAQ – USE ON RIVERS

Q: Will rocks hurt the board?

A: Bumping into / scraping over rocks will not typically damage your inflatable board; however, continuous scraping over time could lead to degradation and potential damage.

Q: Can I use my board on a river and in rapids?

A: This board is suitable for flatwater and river use. Proper training and knowledge are necessary for use in whitewater. Users should never attempt paddling / kayaking in swift currents without proper training.

FAQ – REPAIR & MAINTENANCE

Q: What items are in the repair kit and how do I use them?

A: The included repair kit has the following items: wrench, PVC material and O-ring  washer for the hose end of the pump. The wrench is used to adjust and / or replace  the valve. Tightening and replacing the valve are not routine maintenance procedures.  Please contact customer service for detailed instructions. Should your board develop a  tear, we have included a piece of matching material. For small tears (less than 5.1 cm /  2 in) you can use PVC adhesive glue to affix the PVC material over the tear. For larger  tears, you should get assistance from a local marine repair shop.

A detailed protocol for repairing small tears can be found in the repair kit. Please note,  glue is not included in the repair kit. Adhesive is not included due to the relatively short  shelf life of this type of glue.

Q: When done using the board, what should be done for both   short-term and long-term storage?

A: After each use, inspect the board, in particular the valve area, and make sure that  it is clean and free of any debris. The board should be stored in an area away from  direct sunlight. Remember to check the pressure before using. It is recommended for  extended storage (several months) that you deflate the board and store in the enclosed  bag.

Q: How do I care for and store the kayak seat?

A: After using the board, disconnect the kayak seat and store with the other accessories  in the enclosed bag. If needed, the kayak seat can be cleaned with a towel, a mild  detergent and water and air dried.

FAQ – TRANSPORT

Q: Can I take my board on airplanes?

A: Yes, most airlines will allow you to check your inflatable board. Please note that the  included bag is too large for carry-on luggage. Make sure to check the airline’s baggage  policy before flying. Make sure to pack carefully so to lower the risk of damage to parts  during transport.

INFLATABLE BOARD PRECAUTIONS

When an inflatable board is inflated to the recommended pressure, prolonged exposure to extreme heat may cause adhesive failure, including at the seams. To prevent issues and ensure thelongevity of your board, kindly adhere to these guidelines: Avoid placing your board in direct sunlight and on hot surfaces as much as possible. If keeping your board away from direct sunlight and on a hot surface is unavoidable, lower the pressure in the floor board to 4 PSI (.28 BAR) and the pontoons to 2 PSI (.14 BAR) or below. When not in use, store your board deflated in a cool, dry location or shaded area. By following these recommendations, you’ll help maintain the quality and performance of your inflatable board for an extended period.

If you experience a seam issue either due to extreme heat or otherwise, reach out to the manufacturer (customerservice@surf9.com) for assistance.

NOTE: If you need to keep your board inflated for prolonged time:

  • Store out of the water.

  • Store away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.

  • Reduce the pressure in the in the floor board to 4 PSI (.28 BAR) and the pontoons to 2 PSI (.14 BAR) or below.

By following these recommendations, you’ll help maintain the quality and performance of your inflatable board for an extended period.
